Spending time with loved ones, supporting others, and gaining valuable knowledge are resolutions that we can all get behind this new year, and we know the perfect place to start. ABLE United is excited to be part of these upcoming events that celebrate and strengthen Florida’s disability community.
Representatives will be on-site to share how you can start achieving a better life experience through ABLE United.
Here are some of the events we will be at:
June 8, 2018 – Orlando
This event promises to be a day full of networking and information gathering in the areas of Legislative and Operational Updates, Teaching & Learning, Community Culture, School Security, and Transition Services to meet the needs of special needs students and their families!

20th Annual Family Cafe

Since 1998, The Annual Family Cafe has brought together thousands of individuals with disabilities and their family members for three days of information, training and networking each June. With a great range of individual breakout sessions, a packed Exhibit Hall with dozens of vendors, and a series of special events including Keynote speakers and The Governors’ Summit on Disabilities, The Annual Family Café offers families exposure to a wide range of public and private resources, opportunities to find support by networking with other families, and unprecedented access to policy-making officials.
If you have an event you would like ABLE United to participate in, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing many of you at these events across the state!
Independence. Quality of life. A better future. Both ABLE United and Special Olympics Florida are committed to making these a reality for individuals with disabilities. It’s for this reason that the two organizations enjoy a unique partnership, one which will be on display at the Special Olympics Florida Summer Games.
Special Olympics Florida, which serves more than 38,000 athletes statewide, is a part of a global movement to help people with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs.
Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, at no cost to the athlete or their caregiver as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem and the life skills necessary to be productive, respected and contributing members of their communities.
The organization’s Summer Games, one of its largest events, is a highlight. Held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex May 19 – 20, athletes will compete in events ranging from bocce and volleyball to tennis and track and field. Special Olympics Florida Summer Games is also the site of the conclusion of the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
