Understanding the Basics
Annual Contribution Limit
You can save up to $20,000 a year - or more if employed. If you receive SSI, you can save up to $100,000.
Beneficiary
The person with the disability or severe diagnosis that the account is for.
Contributions
Money added to your account (by you or others).
Qualified Expenses
Things like housing, education, transportation, health care, assistive services and technology, job training, . Your account can even function like a Roth IRA or retirement account.

Who Can Open an Account?
To be eligible for an ABLE account, the individual must:
Be a Florida resident.
Have a qualifying severe diagnosis or disability with onset before age 46.
Meet one of the following:
(1) Receive SSI or SSDI benefits.
(2) Have a diagnosis that meets the Social Security Administration's Blue Book definition.
(3) Obtain a signed diagnosis from a licensed physician.
