Catching Up with Samantha

August 3, 2021

Since sitting down with Samantha two years ago, she has enjoyed wearing the mantle of “dog mom.”

Her Miniature Goldendoodle, Sydney, has been a great companion, especially during the isolation of the pandemic; and recently completed her training to become a service dog.

Thanks to her ABLE United account, she is able to save for Sydney – covering costs associated with training, grooming, food and vet bills – with funds that she’s saved over time.

Samantha is currently working at Dunkin’ Donuts and is grateful for the ability to save in her ABLE account without impacting her Social Security benefits.

“Now that restrictions are lifting, I would love to start traveling more,” says Samantha. “I felt like all plans were put on pause because of the pandemic, but now I can save and plan for future dreams.”

Her savings goal? A house of her own.

Samantha is still saving for her own house, with a doggie door and yard for Sydney, and maybe even an autonomous vehicle since she cannot drive due to her diagnosis.

But all of this wouldn’t be possible without her ABLE account.

She shared that with ABLE United, she has been allowed to dream once again, and the possibilities are endless now that she has secured her financial future.
